Hindu Center of Virginia

The Hindu Center of Virginia is made up of 16 individual temples, several classrooms, a library, a dance studio, a kitchen, a walking plaza, gardens, and administrative offices. The Hindu Center is the first LEED gold-certified religious building in the United States, featuring several sustainable aspects, such as its “bright, daylit interiors, natural minerals, water-saving fixtures, energy-efficient systems, and EIFS veneers used to minimize energy consumption,” according to the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Worship Hall and main Entry Hall feature skylights and clearstory windows that not only reduce the building’s overall energy usage, but allow for beautiful sunlight to brighten the interior.
